Students can master the basic words about color and some useful oral English expressions.

Students can improve their listening ability and speaking ability through listening to the material and oral English activities.

Students will be more interested in learning English and have confidence to speak English in their daily life.

Students can get detailed information from listening to the English material.

III Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Warming up

Greet students and lead in the topic with a color chant.

Red, red, red, touch my head;

Yellow, yellow, yellow, draw a circle;

Blue, blue, blue, tie my shoes;

Green, green, green, shout again.

Then let students to guess the name of the chant “ The colors”. And lead to today’s new topic. Today we will learn a dialogue about colors. A new unit “Here is a red hat”.

Step 2: Presentation

Activity 1.Let students read the conversation on the textbook and circle the new words they don’t know. To my students, the words are red, brown, yellow, green, orange. I will write them on the middle part of the blackboard.

Activity2. Show them some cards of fruit with different colors, such as apple, banana, pear, kiwi and orange. And stick them on the right part of the blackboard. Use the pictures to teach new words about color.

Activity 3 Play a game named “Golden eyes”. Show them the pictures, students who stand up quickly and say the name of the color correctly will be the winner, and he or she will get a star for this group.

Step 3: Practice

Activity 1 Let students watch the cartoon about the conversation between Amy and Sam, and find out where they are and what they are talking about.

Activity2 Listen to the material and match the name , clothes and color by asking:

(1) What has Sam got? What color is it/are they?

(2) What has Amy got? What color is it /are they?

Step 4: Production

Activity 1 Listen to the material again and try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation. Then work in groups of four to make a role play in front of the class, teacher will give them reward according to their performance.

Activity 2. Ask students to look around and find things around them. Then make own conversation. Teacher will give an example “What things have you got?”. Students can answer by using “I’ve got…” and “Here is…”.

Step 5: Summary & Homework

Students summarize this class with teacher together.

Homework :Students share what they have learnt with their parents. And draw one of their favorite clothes, color it and write a sentence we’ve learnt today beside it.

【参考答案】

首先角色扮演是小学英语课堂非常重要的活动形式,它则不同于传统的课堂活动,它可以充分调动学生的感官系统,使他们好动的天性得到充分发挥,让他们觉得英语是鲜活的,促使他们不断的去探索这未知世界,进而提高英语学习兴趣,促进英语成绩的提高。但是,目前我国小学生班级人数较多,尤其是重点小学。小学生集中力容易涣散,几个人的表演不足以长时间维持课堂秩序,导致课堂混乱。 此外这很可能出现僵化的背台词现象,英语是我们的第二外语,又由于小学阶段的学生接触的事物较少,学生的理解能力有限,不能灵活的运用语言。

任何事情都是有利有弊的,因此,根据不同上课的内容,教师可以合理选择活动形式,以达到最佳的学习效果。

【Suggested version】

Role play is an essential activity in primary English class. Differing the traditional class activity, it plays an effective role in stimulating students’ sense system to make sure that the students can learn from fun. In this case, the students will foster the idea that learning English is interesting, so it would be easier for them to learn the language well. But there are usually many students in one class, especially in our country, which means that this activity may not cover enough students. As all these students are very active, and it would be hard for them to concentrate for a very long time. So class order keeping will be a challenge if only 2 or 3 students are asked to play in front of the class. Also, students at this age can not understand English very well, so they are prone to just recite the lines instead of performing with understanding.

Every coin has two sides. Every activity has its pros and cons. Therefore, the teacher should choose different activities basing on different class to make sure students can learn better.
